I would like to extend everyone a warm welcome as we begin the 2010-11 school year. We appear to have strong enrollment numbers this year and are excited to see so many students returning as well as welcoming many new families to our community.
Our district calendar was adjusted this year so that students begin early and get out early. One advantage to our district with this schedule is that high school students are able to take their mid term exams prior to winter break. Looking to the end of the year, we will have our last day of school scheduled for May 27th.
We will continue to provide many of the exceptional programs and offerings that have become tradition here at Coyote Valley Elementary including; Accelerated Reader, reading buddies, flag salute Fridays, Valet Curb Service, BEST practices and student of the month awards assemblies. Additionally, we are excited about establishing a student council this year in which we will have a school president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and class representatives.
While final data is not yet available from the state regarding our school wide state test results (STAR), we do have individual student reports and will be handing those out at back to school night on Thursday, August 26th. Estimates provided by Lake County Office of Education project that we are on track to make our school wide goal. We will wait for the official results from the state before making a final declaration, but I am extremely proud of the individual efforts of our students and the growth they showed.
I believe this will be a great year at Coyote Valley and am excited about the possibilities!
