Mugshots Donates Free Hot Chocolates!

CVE had the best attendance in the district for the first 5 months of school with a 96.03% avg. daily attendance rate. To recognize the school's effort to "show up" Mugshots is giving every student (K-6) a free hot chocolate! Coupons will be coming home next week. Thank you Mugshots for supporting our school and students!

Attendance is a top priority at Coyote Valley Elementary and for the Middletown Unified School District.  The thinking goes that students who are at school have the chance to learn the new skills being taught in class.  While teachers and parents may understand the importance of attendance with regards to students learning, they may not realize the real financial impact absences have at the school and district level.

 

The State provides funding to schools based on student enrollment.  Each day that a child attends school, the district is paid approximately $28.00 towards educational services.  That means that every day that a child is absent, the site/district lose nearly $30.00.  At first glance, this may not seem like much, but when you begin to break down the numbers it translates to Coyote Valley losing over $70,000 due to student absences last year! ...... continue reading the article by clicking the attachment.
